Hi there
I was reading through the recommendation for Richardson road put forward by the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association (FGCA) and note that they would like to close it off to Oak Bay residents at Foul bay road Here are the recommendations of the board:

“After discussion with staff, our Task Force agreed that Richardson will function best as a Neighbourhood Bikeway - a quiet, residential street rather than what it has been evolving into…”

“We recommend that Richardson return to serving the needs of the neighbourhood, rather than the needs of adjacent municipalities”

This seems very unneighbourly and very destructive. Where are the residents of Oak Bay supposed to go? This is why we need to look regionally and need a regional Transportation task force.

For the record: Richardson is classified as a Secondary Collector Road, as per the OCP and provides a direct route from Vancouver Street to Oak Bay. Secondary Roads are meant to allow for 1000-4000 cars/day which is how many cars currently use this road.
